The patch 2000 is the first syntheziser guitar
on the market.
It can be just together with
most syntherzisers.
The patch 2000 is built up
around the very popular Hagström Swede guitar.
All the frets and strings are connected
to a digital electronic circuit
on a small PC-board installed in the guitar body.
The frets are ordinary frets and the
fingerboard can easily be refretted.
The digital circuit in the guitar is continuously
scanning the frets and the strings at a
very high speed. When a string is fretted
the scanning stops and the digital code
informs which string has been fretted and
which fret the string contacts.
Thus each fret-string combination
has its own digital code.
When the Patch 2000 is hooked up to a regular
syntheziser you can
play the syntheziser just
by fretting the strings.
The syntheziser will play exactly the same as
if it was played from the keyboard.
You can of course play the guitar
in the usual way at the same time,
but the pick ups and the electronics
of the guitar are completely separated
from the electronics of the syntheziser.
You can play the syntheziser with
one hand. The response is
immediate because it is
independent of any stringvibrations.
The synthezisernote will sustain
until you release the
string from the fret.
On the Patch 2000 pedalboard you have
two pedals and one footswitch.
The left pedal is a PITCH-pedal
covering exactly one octave between
the "toe-heel" positions. With this pedal
you can tune the syntheziser to any tune
with respect to the normal guitar tune
and "bend" the notes of the syntheziser.
The right pedal is a GLIDE-pedal controlling
the time it takes for the syntheziser
to glide from one note to another.
By pressing the footswitch,
positioned between the pedals,
you can immediately tune the
syntheziser exactly a "fifth"
above the normal tune.
On the pick guard of the Swede
you find a rocker switch for
switching on/off the syntheziser-effects.
The Swede guitar is of course provided
with the normal standard jacks so you
can use the guitar as an ordordinary guitar
without the pedal. On the backpanel of
the pedal you find all the necessary
outputjacks and the power on/off switch.
The Patch 2000 is supplied with all the
necessary interconnection cables for
most synthezisers on the market.
Synthezisers not having the required
inputs for the Patch 2000 can in
most cases easily be modified by
a qualified syntheziser service center.
With the Patch 2000 in mind,
the wellknown american syntheziser
company Steiner-Parker has developed
and recently brought out on the market
a small micro syntheziser without
the keyboard, but with all the facilities
of a "big" syntheziser and with a pricè tag of $300. It is called Microcon.
Some of "the ready to go" synthezisers
on the market are:Oberheim, Steiner-Parker,
Micro Moog, EMS and some ARP models.
